Abstract : The Lagrangian Particle Dispersion Model (LPDM) simulates the ensemble average transport of aerosols and gases in turbulent wind conditions. Many atmospheric transport and dispersion models, such as LPDM, can take multiple hours to complete execution, which makes them not useful for rapid release and planning purposes. This report documents the implementation process of integrating the LPDM code with graphics processing unit (GPU) computing technology to improve its performance. As a result, the execution time of the GPU-accelerated LPDM application was much faster than the original LPDM application.
