Abstract : The transverse dimension is arguably the most underdiagnosed problem when treatment planning individuals for orthodontics. Posterior-anterior cephalographs(PA ceph) are routinely taken to help diagnose transverse discrepancies. However, PA cephs are often difficult to read due to overlapping structures and represent a three-dimensional structure in two-dimensions. With the advent of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), a more accurate measurement of maxillary and mandibular widths is possible.
