Abstract : This AFOSR-supported research was started in March 2013 and was directed toward developing an integrated photonic platform for wideband, compact, low-power and high-speed coherent optical processing. The envisioned platform will provide different essential functionalities for wideband coherent optical processing (WCOP),such as optical comb sources, modulators, arbitrary signal generation, and linear coherent signal processing. This research was focused on addressing the key fundamental limitations for the deployment of coherent optical processing systems, at all levels, e.g., material platform, device technology, and system design and implementation.
