Abstract : Background: Advances in health information technology (HIT) and the use of evidence-based practices (EBP) and clinical decision support (CDS) tools in electronic health records (EHR) hold great promise. Hospitals use varied strategies to increase the uptake of EBP including policy-, education-, and technology-based interventions but these strategies are relatively untested. Theory-based research is needed to gain a deeper understanding of all the factors that influence the uptake of EBP by nurses in acute care.
