Abstract : The nuclear reaction cross-sections for photo-fission gamma-rays and fast neutron generation relevant to the detection of contraband fissile materials have been measured and published in the scientific literature. In the case of the 11B(d,ny) 12C reaction the previously published cross-section for the 15 MeV gamma-ray was found to be a factor of two too high. Many additional potential neutron generating reactions were identified as part of this program, in particular reactions which are kinetically collimated. In addition to the basic research performed on this contract two graduate students and four undergraduate students were trained in various aspects of nuclear science and engineering.
