Abstract : Larval (tadpole) northern leopard frogs were exposed to 3-nitro-1,2,4-triazol-5-one (NTO) or to water control until they developed into froglets (up to 90 days) at Gosner Stage 46 (Gosner, 1960). Animals were humanely euthanized and kidney and liver tissues examined microscopically to detect indications of toxicity. No evidence of toxicity or developmental delay was observed, suggesting NTO may not affect anuran renal or hepatic development. Tissues did have inflammatory changes normally associated with infection by mycobacteria, fungi or foreign materials.
