Abstract : This project aims to be a stepping stone in developing an instrument enabling accurate measurements, while the instrument is rotating around a barb attachment as it is used to tag large cetaceans. Such methodology would provide for ecosystem studies of large cetaceans that are not currently feasible. The objective of this program is to design an instrument that can provide quality data from an non-rigid attachment (e.g. barb and wire) and to successfully demonstrate that this instrument can record long-term time series within the marine environment.
