Abstract : This project led by a team of researchers from the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign has been engaged in research on the fundamental interactions between a high-density (pressure) pulsed plasmas (thermal arcs) and materials surfaces. We specifically focus on the interaction of the plasmas with dielectric surfaces since plasma facing dielectric surfaces with low thermal conductivity are most vulnerable to erosion through repeated use in devices.
