Abstract : The techniques and instrumentation presented in this report allow for mapping of temperature, pressure, chemical species, and energy deposition during and following detonations of explosives. Developed over the last several years under US Army mission funding, this work has been transitioned from a developmental task to the regular toolkit employed by researchers within the US Army Research Laboratory. This work provides measurement in the explosive near- to far-field (0500 charge diameters) of surface temperatures, peak air-shock pressures, some chemical species signatures, and shock energy deposition. Information on these events is used to evaluate the performance, lethality, and survivability of Army munitions.
