Abstract : Two brief reports are included. The first on porous tube flow carries out a simple analytical development of the self-ejecting boundary layer resulting in an integral differential equation describing the pressure and velocity as a function of the axial distance. The results of a computer program are shown. The second report investigates the effect of an indentation in a conduit with respect to minimizing pressure losses. A water table model is used consisting of a channel with a single rectangular cavity of variable depth. Using pressure measurements and hydrogen bubble flow visualization the least pressure loss is found when the cavity is equal in depth and width and a stable cavity vortex pattern is formed.
