Abstract : The report describes the initial efforts of a study to provide fundamental understanding of transonic flow. It contains a partial description of apparatus and models used for the study including a continuous flow transonic wind tunnel and a comparison of the experimental results with the available viscous transonic theory on two experimental airfoils. The report also contains a discussion of future work.
