Abstract : Conditions are given for the existence of a 'radiating mirror' laser in which a semiconducting layer is applied directly to the mirrors of the resonator; the said layer being divided by absorbing partitions into separate isolated cells. Such an arrangement increases the efficiency of large semiconductor lasers while suppressing parasitic generation in the plane of the mirror. The diffraction coupling coefficient of open resonators is calculated, and the stability conditions of the synchronized system is determined.
