Abstract : This report presents a discussion of the Flame Temperature Measurement program progress, since the previous quarterly report. The objective of this program is to develop the techniques for flame temperature measurement of metallized propellants. The program includes laboratory development of the temperature measurement technique, test motor development, and results of 1KS- 250 motor tests. Results of laboratory measurements of spectral absorption cross sections are presented and are used to calculate values of the imaginery part of the refractive index for molten alumina. Other results, obtained from the literature are also used as a comparison. A discussion of the experimental program using small solid rocket motors is presented. The experimental effort includes results of light scattering studies, and gas and particle temperature measurements on the exhaust plume of these small motors.
