Abstract : The preparation and evaluation of interstitial compounds is described and the potential of this class of materials for development of high Tc values is discussed. An evaluation of transition temperature measurements of pseudo-binary and ternary interstitial alloys show that no simple direct relationship exists between transition temperature and such quantities as electron to atom ratio, mass and lattice volume. However, the experimental data have been successfully systematized in terms of a general empirical model which appears capable of predicting the most promising materials for development of high transition temperatures. Preliminary data demonstrate that number of alloyed interstitial compounds exhibit transition temperatures close to 18 K. (Author)
