Abstract : Some turbine-cascade testing results obtained from experimental research on low speed two-dimensional stages were analyzed and compared systematically. The following problems were investigated: physical interpretation of the influence of the design characteristics of the two-dimensional turbine stage (Air-stream turning angle stage reaction) and its geometric parameters (relative pitch, stagger angle, relative leading edge radius maximum profile thickness ratio, etc.) on the principal aerodynamic characteristics (profile loss coefficient and exit flow angle); also comparison of the above results with corresponding data published in the literature. On this basis, certain qualitative relationships are verified and concrete data is obtained. In the meantime, certain concrete principles and data for the preliminary design and approximate calculation of characteristics for turbine stage profiles are developed. Furthermore, certain comments are made on relevant problems concerning design analysis and experimental research for two-dimensional turbine stages. (Author)
