Abstract : A theoretical analysis for the characteristic undamped natural frequencies and mode shapes of three dimensional piping systems with general topology is presented. The development makes use of matrix methodology including transfer matrices, dynamic stiffness matrices, and certain topological matrices derived from the theory of linear graphs. A distributed mass model is employed throughout.
