Abstract : A very thin evaporated metal copper precoat on the molybdenum substrate has been shown to result in improved film uniformity and higher cell efficiency. Substitution of antimony for copper chloride in the tailored region produced cells with efficiencies equal to the average 'standard' cell. Spectral response curves are not yet available. It was shown that cadmium chloride could be used as a substitute material in place of gallium to provide adequate donor doping of the cadmium sulfide layer. This is of interest as a future cost improvement innovation. (Author)
