Abstract : This brochure was prepared to acquaint potential users with the capabilities of the Radar Target Scatter Facility which is referred to as RAT SCAT. Available for use by all government or non-government agencies, RAT SCAT is a complex of ground plane radar cross section measurement ranges located on the Alkali Flats near Holloman AFB, New Mexico. The RAT SCAT complex is used to measure the static Radar Cross Section (RCS) of actual or scale models of aerospace craft such as nose cones, re-entry vehicles, decoys, satellites, etc. RAT SCAT data may then be used as criteria for increasing or decreasing the RCS of the measured vehicle.
