Abstract : This report presents results of work accomplished during the period 1 January 1965 to 30 June 1965 under a program on radio propagation research in tropical vegetated environments. The objectives of this program are to collect and analyze basic propagation data, together with basic environmental data, needed to improve the design and operation of radio communications in such environments. The field measurements on this program are being carried out in Thailand in a specially selected area of tropical vegetated terrain about 30 miles in diameter. Measurements of transmission loss are conducted in the frequency range of 100 kc to 10 gc, with antenna heights, polarizations, and transmission ranges as the primary measurement variables. Basic environmental data, such as range profiles, vegetation characteristics, and weather data are also collected and through the technique of statistical correlation, are used to identify the quantitative effects of the environment on propagation path loss. These data are presented in graphic form in terms of basic transmission loss. However, the major portion of this report is devoted to the detailed analysis of a relatively large quantity of the field data.
