Abstract : Nonlinear forced oscillations of slender beams are studied. The analysis takes into account both the nonlinear effects arising from large deflections of the beam and those arising from nonlinear material behavior. A hysteretic stress-strain law of the Davidenkov type is used in the analysis. Detailed results are given for large amplitude oscillations of beams with hinged ends. Theoretical results for a simply-supported beam are compared with experimental results.
