Abstract : The results of the investigation of a six-degree-of-freedom dynamic GEM model, tested in the David Taylor Model Basin Maneuvering and Seakeeping (MASK) Facility over random seas of various states, are presented. The primary purpose of the investigation was to study the feasibility of six-degree-of-freedom GEM model testing in this facility. All data were obtained using a plenumtype, submerged sidewall model employing flexivle cloth ''skirts'' for bow and compartmentation seals, and propelled by air escaping under aft flaps. Performance characteristics are evaluated in terms of kinetic energy of the escaping air and model speed. Seakeeping characteristics are evaluated in terms of root-mean-square accelerations.
