Abstract : This report contains further work on the two methods of controlling electron space currents. The theoretical energy distribution function for an electric tunnel emitting diode operating at high temperatures is developed. A cumulative probability function which shows the width of the spread of the tunnel electrons for all energies is derived for the high temperature case. The transmission coefficient of the second metallic electrode is discussed for its effect on the spread of emitted electrons. The Auphan electron control scheme is further developed and a general theoretical development is made to show how gain is accomplished and how it may be enhanced. A contrast enhancement factor is defined. The negative resistance amplification method is discussed and the electrical requirements for an ideal Esaki diode for this application are given.
