Abstract : This report summarizes the results of a two-year program conducted to determine the effects of topographical features such as hills and valleys on the air blast from tactical nuclear weapons. This program was largely experimental in nature and consisted of tests in which small-scale valley models were exposed to shock waves from small high-explosive charges. Shock wave parameters were measured on the slopes and at the bottom of the valleys. Theoretical work was also done to aid in the design of the test program, in the design of the models, and in the analysis of results. (Author)
