Abstract : A critical review of the literature on the minimum temperature for explosion is made and the more important contributions are discussed. The relative importance of the various parameters involved is given, including explosive properties and sample environment, configuration, and bulk mass. It is found that the solutions in the literature are adequate and usable although not always lucid. Several of these solutions are expanded upon and discussed in detail. Many graphical representations and examples are given to illustrate the points presented.
