Abstract : Chimpanzee response to 24 hours of restraint was measured by determining hematologic alterations in blood drawn immediately before, immediately after, and 24 hours post-restraint. The values are analyzed for significance deviations in relation to age, sex, and duration of restraint. Pronounced alterations with restraint occurred in most of the formed elements determined. The formed elements of the blood support a hypothesis that a state of dehydration exists during restraint. (Author)
