Abstract : Hydration is a major factor determining the structure of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). It was therefore of interest to examine the hydration of the molecular constituents of DNA (purines, pyrimidines, nucleosides, nucleotides, and related compounds) and to compare it with the hydration of DNA at comparable values of relative humidity.
