Abstract : The stem bark of Aspidosperma album (Vahl) R. Ben is shown to contain at least eight more alkaloids than had been reported previously. The new alkaloids have been separated from the extract by a combination of countercurrent distribution and preparative scale thin-layer chromatography. Of these eight alkaloids, five have been definitely characterized and their structure determined. They are the previously known aspidolimidine, together with N-propionyl-N-decetylasppidolimidine, N-acetyl-N-depropionyllimaspermine, N-acetyl-N-depropionylaspidoalbinol, and aspidolimidinol. The natural occurrence of the last four alkaloids had not been reported previously. (Author)
