Abstract : The interaction of deoxyribonucleic acid and several acridine dyes has been studied fluorometrically. The data indicate that two complexes form when the acridine is substituted in the 2,7- and/or 3,6-positions by amino and/ or alkylamino groups. A model is proposed for the two complexes, utilizing the intercalation and aggregation theories for deoxyribonucleic acid and acridine dye interaction.
