Abstract : A system which makes possible the generation of foamed plastics, under field conditions, from solid heat-foamable resin compositions has been developed. 2the prototype heat-foaming device is the Mark III Foam Spray Gun, consisting of a hopper, a hand-cranked impeller, and a blowtorch as the heat source. Several resin formulations, mostly based on expandable polystyrene beads, are suitable for use with the Mark III Gun. Foaming is accomplished by spraying the heatfoamable beads from the hopper through the blowtorch flame onto a target surface. The system provides an effective means of applying foams to a vajiety of materials including wood, fabric, metal and masonry surfaces
