Abstract : It has been verified that H atoms are formed when formaldehyde vapor at 300 C is illuminated by the 3 655 A group of the mercury arc. Isolation of the group of lines was achieved by a combination of glass and solution filters. This observation gives further support to the high value of D(H-CO). It was found that D2CO also predissociated following absorption at this wavelength. 2this observation is not in agreement with predictions based on purely spectroscopic studies of these molecules.
