Abstract : HERB is a Monte Crlo digital computer program, in FORTRAN language, which calculates the collision density of neutrons in the earth's upper atmosphere as a function of angular distance away from a point source. The energy spectrum of the source and its angular distribution may be specified as input. Output includes the neutron collision density as a function of altitude and energy as well as angular distance from the source. This report consists of descriptions of the physics and mathematics of the HERB program, descriptions of input and output and the flow diagram for the associated computer program. Results will be presented elsewhere. (Author)
