Abstract : ClO2F reacted with cesium fluoride at 0-25 degrees to produce a solid having a limiting composition near 'CsF2'. The solid however, possesses little oxidizing strength. Reaction of ClO2F with cesium oxide gave a solid product containing Cs, F and Cl in variable composition. These experiments gave no evidence indicating the formation of a stable fluorochlorate salt. ClO2F and ClF3 reacted with CsN3 with formation of F-containing solids. These reactions are being studies as possible routes to F-N anions. The reaction of KClO4 with BrF3 gave nearly quantitative yields of ClO2F and only minor amounts of ClO3F. PtF6 and ClF3 reacted to form ClF5 and the solid compound ClF3.PtF5. Thermal decomposition of this substance produced F, ClF3 and PtF4.
