Abstract : The results presented here show that spermatozoal hyaluronidase activity and release are not affected by relatively large doses of X-irradiation and that permeability of the acrosomal mem/brane like that of the mitochondrion is apparently undamaged by ionizing radiation. Such a finding is in agreement with the general observation that the temporary loss of fertility in sublethally irradiated mammalian males is due to sperm depletion as a result of the destruction of stem cells such as spermatogonia.
