Abstract : The object of this research program is to determine the most feasible means of obtaining a nuclear blast simulator which will reproduce the transient flow field associated with the 500 psig. overpressure range of large nuclear weapon detonations. The blast simulator is of the general purpose type and is characterized by a traveling shock wave followed by a flowing gas. A large number of potential blast simulator concepts were evaluated and their performance char acteristics were determined. Preliminary designs were made for those concepts which possessed the best over-all performance characteristics and estimates of their economic feasibility were established. Volume II consists of several appendices that are referenced in Vol. I, which give the details of the feasibility study analysis. (Author)
