Abstract : Adequate electromagnetic coupling is essential to the successful tactical operation of a microwave jammer against a target. Factors such as reflecting surface and obstructions between antennas affect antenna coupling: the heart of the problem centers around antenna height above ground. Engineering data related to the development of an 8-db (relative to isotropic) omnidirectional in azimuth antenna breadboard model and its measured free-space radiation are presented. Based upon theoretical groundeffect considerations, data are presented in graphical form to show the important effect that height above ground has on the antenna's effective radiated power at low elevation angles.
