Abstract : The basic properties of multi-variable linear feedback systems with periodically varying parameters are investigated. This class of systems is described by linear differential equations with periodic coefficients in the state space. The classical Floquet theory on linear differential equations with continuous, periodic coefficients has been extended to treat linear differential equations with piece-wise continuous, periodic coefficients. The extended Floquet theory is applied to the stability analysis of modulated feedback control systems with continuous and piece-wise continuous carriers. It is shown that analysis and synthesis of many classes of linear feedback systems may be formulated from a unified point of view by using Volterra integral equations of the second kind.
