Abstract : Measurements of the Seebeck coefficient and resistivity of the cuprous sulfide-lead sulfide system in the liquid state have been made for compositions containing 75, 50, and 25 mole percent cuprous sulfide. The 75 mole percent cuprous sulfide composition is a p-type semiconductor having a Seebeck coefficient of + 325 microvolts/degree C and a resistivity of 0.021 ohm cm at the same temperature. The 50 and 25 mole percent cuprous sulfide compositions are both n-type; the 25 mole percent composition has a Seebeck coefficient of -185 microvolts/degree C and a resistivity of 0.026 ohm cm at 800 C. The 50 mole percent composition has a resistivity that is higher by a factor of 2 over the 25 and 75 compositions, and a Seebeck coefficient which is intermediate between them. Data on the Seebeck coefficient and resistivity of the 50 mole percent cuprous sulfide-cuprous phosphide system are presented in the temperature range of 1000 to 1200 C. (Author)
