Abstract : The Bare Critical Assembly, MoLLY-G, located at the White Sands Missile Range (WSMR), New Mexico, is a prompt-critical reactor designed to simulate the radiation environments of nuclear detonations. The MoLLY-G is located at a remote test site 3 miles southeast of the central headquarters of WSMR. The potential hazard to the general public is essentially zero under all conceivable circumstances, including the maximum credible accident. When operated in accordance with prescribed safety regulations, standards and codes, there is no hazard to the operating and using personnel. Maximum safety has been provided in all areas of potential hazard. Safety features include: radiation shielding, interlocks, controlled access, remote viewing, remote control, and fail-safe provisions in performing components. Based upon the analysis of this hazards report, the MoLLY-G can be operated safely as a part of the Nuclear Effects Laboratory Facility. (Author)
