Abstract : Two effects are anticipated from the use of ultrasonics in rolling: a possible reduction of yield strength and reduced friction in the roll gap. The relative magnitude of these effects and their relation to rolling variables will determine the experimental program. Design problems in the construction of a transducerized roll have been analyzed and an experiment to solve them initiated. (Author)
