Abstract : Vanadium development studies described herein have the primary objective of producing improved short-time (15-min to at least 1-hr10 creep and stress-rupture properties at temperatures in the 2000 to 2400 F range. Initial work involves the determination of short-time creep behavior of certain promising compositions in vacuum at 2200 F. The effect of tantalum, tungsten, and molybdenum additions on creep of V-60b-1Ti is being determined. Reinvestigation on certain binary systems, notably V-Ta, is being carried out with the hope of formulating beneficial heat treatments for enhancement of high-temperature properties. (Author)
