Abstract : Reasonably accurate grain-design equations for hybrid rocket motors conforming to the assumptions applicable to oxygen-polymethylmethacrylate systems are derived. Shapes of efficient grains are discussed. The effect of throttling upon the specific impulse of hybrid motors is analyzed theoretically, and it is concluded that typical hybrids can be throttled over thrust ratios of 10 to 100 with only a 10% variation in the theoretical specific impulse.
