Abstract : ILS glide slope antenna systems are reviewed and evaluated from various standpoints such as the installation site, weather conditions, compatibility with ICAO standards and general effectiveness. Recommendations on several proposed modifications are made together with suggestions for future consideration. All existing FAA glide slope systems are considered as well as several prototype systems under consideration for future installation. It is concluded that the program to up-grade the ILS installations in the United States is proceeding satisfactorily and that the proposed modifications are in accord with the latest and best engineering practices available in today's technology.
