Abstract : The paper discusses means of controlling, through operation procedures and design, accidental functioning of an explosive system. It describes mechanical activation as well as electrical (hot-wire, film-bridge, explodingbridgewire) systems, comparing them in terms of invulnerability. An exploding-bridgewire initiator was found to be the least vulnerable electric initiator. (Author)
