Abstract : Calculation of the laminar boundary layer in axially symmetric flow by the use of finite differences is described. Discussed are the Prandtl differential equations, finite difference approximations, stability, convergence, starting procedures, and the gas assumptions. The principal advantage of finite differences is that no simplifying assumptions whatsoever are necessary. (Author)
