Abstract : AMS 6434 sheet steel fracture surfaces were examined with the electron microscope. Fracture surfaces formed at 81, -100 and -280 F show a decrease in visible plastic deformation on the surface with decreasing test temperature as well as a change in fracture mode from ductile rupture to cleavage.
