Abstract : A survey is covered of five methods and pre treatments that have been recommended for the prevention or reduction of galvanic corrosion between magnesium and steel. In conjunction with this, 6 primers of various types were evaluated over these pretreatments. Where treatment before assembly can be made only complete insulation will prevent galvanic corrosion. Where treatment before assembly is not possible the stannate process shows promise. (Author)
