Abstract : The feasibility of the ion beam method of measuring the recombination cross section of cesium ions is demonstrated. Preliminary results are given. The atomic recombination cross section of C(s+) is less than or equal to 5 x 10 to the -19th power sq cm, while the molecular (dissociative) recombination cross section of Cs(2+) is less than or equal to 3 x 10 to the -14th power sq cm. The method is described briefly and the results are presented in detail and discussed.
