Abstract : IN 1959 THE System Development Corporation undertook a research program in management control systems. The research centered around the development of a large-scale business simulation model as a vehicle for doing research in management controls. The major results of the program were the development of the Mark I business simulation model and the Simulation Package (SIMPAC). SIMPAC is a method and set of programs facilitating the construction of large simulation models. The object of this document is to describe the Mark I Corporation model, state why parts of the business were modeled as they were, and indicate the research applications of the model. (Author)
