Abstract : The invention is a method and apparatus for boresighting lasers. The apparatus consists of a parabolic reflector with a physically adjustable four-quadrant photodetector mounted at the focus of the reflector. The photodetector has its quadrants defined by crosshairs. Four microammeters connected to respective quadrants of the photodetector show currents dependent on the amount of reflected light falling on each respective quadrant. In use, the apparatus is placed in a laser beam, and the photodetector is moved about the axis of the reflector until equal currents are shown by all four microammeters. A sighting telescope mounted on the laser housing is then adjusted to have its crosshairs coincide with the image of the photodetector crosshairs.
