Abstract : It is suggested that the head and the motor of a fin-stabilized rocket be joined not rigidly, but by a trapezoidal linkage, with the larger parallel side of the linkage located forward and joined to the motor, so that the linkage is under tension and is stable with respect to the angle between the head and the motor. The apparently inavoidable linear misalignment of the jet thrust then can be converted, in effect, into the relatively harmless angular misalignment. The linkage possesses a number of other useful features, and it does not seem impossible that it may lead to a radical increase in the accuracy of rockets or boosters.
